Step 3: Engineering

Step 4: Maths
Storm Emma may have delayed our Engineering Awareness Week but we had fun the following week attempting the 'Engineering Challenges', learning about bridges, and building bridges to support our toys!

Who can create the tallest structure?!

This was voted the most fun activity by all the classes! It required a lot of concentration, spaghetti and marshmallows but with some very creative results!

Building Bridges

Senior Infants listened to the story of The Three Billy Goats Gruff.  It was great fun designing a bridge that was tall enough for the troll to stand under but strong enough and long enough to support not one but three goats!

Designing and building furniture for the Three Bears.

The Senior Infants also had great fun attempting to design and build chairs to support the characters from Goldilocks and the Three Bears and and to design and build beds using Jaggo Blocks that were long enough for the characters.

Design and Make Activity

As part of the Aistear Curriculum the children regularly engage in Design and Build activities.  The children plan, design, create and evaluate their designs using Junk At materials and Jaggo blocks.  Here some of the children have built their designs under the theme of "places people work."

The Three Little Pigs

Here are some of our Junior Infants designing and building houses for the Three Little Pigs... they had to design and build houses that were big enough and strong enough to support the the Three Little Pigs.
