Newsletter
March 2023

Our final school term is underway and as always it will be a busy one. We look forward with hope to good weather and a good term.
Art Exhibition
Our annual art exhibition took place on Thursday 30th March. It was a very uplifting evening with the joy and innocence of the children visible in their unique artwork. It was wonderful to welcome everyone back into the school, as it should be! My sincere thanks to the Parents Association, for organising the event for the whole school community, and to the teachers, SNA’s and children for their input.

Dates for your Diary

First class graduation ceremony will take place on Friday 23rd June. Further details will follow closer to the date.
School Tours
This year Junior Infants will go to Go Kids Go Tuesday 23rd May. Senior Infants go to Ship Shape on Thursday 18th May. First class will go to Ship Shape on Friday 9th June. You will receive further information and an ePayment request closer to your date.
Drumming Workshops
We are delighted to have Drum Nature visit the school to deliver drumming workshops to each class. They will visit on 27th and 28th April.
Inservice Day
All School Staff will participate in continuous professional development around the New Draft Curriculum on Friday 26th May, as directed by the Department of Education. The Draft Primary Curriculum Framework recognises and prioritises the child as a confident learner and communicator. It places significant value on a healthy mind, body, and spirit. It also provides increased agency and flexibility for schools to focus on the emerging needs and interests of the children they support. Children will not attend school on Friday 26th May

Retirement

I wish to inform you my intention to retire on 31st August 2023, following 27 years of service in the school. I have had the privilege of leading the school for the last 15 years. I have never taken that privilege lightly and know that with it comes huge responsibility. I have a strong belief that wonderful organisations are made even more wonderful when leaders change. I have completed 15 years at the helm of this wonderful school and am proud of our achievements during that time. And so, it is with mixed emotions but a conviction in the wisdom of my decision, that I inform you of my retirement from my role as Principal at the end of this academic year, on 31st August 2023. I have had the privilege of sharing in the joy and sense of wonder that each new day brings in an infant school. It has been an honour for me to play my part in the growth and development of Naíscoil Íde, from a child grasping a new skill or discovering a way to solve a problem to whole school events, successes and celebrations. The staff, boards, and parents I have worked with over the years have been the most dedicated, talented and loyal people I could ever hope to meet. All united in wanting the best for their children. I would like to thank each and every one for their positive input and welcome contributions. I am looking forward to a wonderful final term together and we will talk again soon.
Many thanks for your support
