The calendar for the 2017-2018 school year is attached. Please keep for reference. The calendar will also be available on the school website www.naiscoilide.ie The website is a great way of keeping on touch with what is happening in the school and is well worth a look.
There will be a short graduation ceremony for the first classes in the hall on Tuesday 20th June at 9.30. Please enter the hall through the car park. On behalf of all the staff I would like to wish our first classes well as they embark on the next stage of their educational careers. Time has flown since they crossed our doors as new junior infants. We would like to thank them for all they have contributed to Naíscoil Íde and wish them happiness and success in their new schools.
Official Opening of New Classrooms
There will be a short official opening of the new classrooms on Wednesday 28th June. First classes will sing one or two songs and the rooms will be blessed. The extension marks the opening of another chapter in the school’s long history. Well-equipped, spacious, bright classrooms now provide exceptional facilities for five classes. The foresight and commitment of so many members of the school community, who were all single-minded in providing the best, for the children of Raheny and beyond, helped in the realization of this project. Our Chairperson, John Swords, and all the Board of Management have given of their time and expertise unselfishly. The Parents’ Association and staff members gave tremendous assistance with fundraising. The commitment and professionalism of our Architect and Builders have resulted in the beautiful building we have today. The huge generosity of parents, the department of education, and the community at large, has brought this project to fruition. To everyone involved Buíochas ó Chroí.
Thursday 29th and Friday 30th June will both be non-uniform days. This is to facilitate the parents association who have organised a uniform swap. Drop uniforms you no longer require to the school hall on Thursday 29th June. Call into the hall on Thursday or Friday to avail of any uniforms, jumpers, and cardigans that you may require. Alternatively Uniforms are available from McAloons of Edenmore and tracksuits from Pat O’Farrell in Portmarnock.
All going according to plan, the first class yard will be resurfaced over the summer and the first class children will enter the school through the back gate and line up in the first class yard.
If you have children in Junior/Senior Infants as well as first class, please bring the children to the front yard. First class pupils with brothers and or sisters in Infant classes will line up in the Junior Infant yard. They will then be escorted through the building to their classrooms by a member of staff. At home time these children will be escorted back to the Junior Infant yard through Exit number 1. This is in the interest of Health and Safety.
In the meantime we are all looking forward to the summer holidays. The school will close on Friday 30th June at 12 o’clock. I wish you and your family an enjoyable summer and look forward to seeing you all on Friday 1st September at 9 o’clock.
