On behalf of all the staff and Board of Management I would like to extend a warm welcome back as we re-open our doors to parents and pupils. A special warm welcome to our new Junior Infants. Junior Infants are in school from 9.00 – 12.00 and they will start into their full day (9.00-1.40) on Monday 16th. We are looking forward to a year of great promise as we strive to help each child reach their full potential. We feel privileged that you have entrusted us with your child’s education. Please check our school website www.naiscoilide.ie for updates, information and photographs.
Rest assured we have been busy during the holidays. Work is complete on a new intruder alarm, all classrooms have a set of i-pads, and all, bar four, have new interactive flat touch screens. Graeme has worked hard progressing our classroom painting schedule as well as painting the perimeter railings. The grounds are looking splendid due to his commited deligence and I would like to thank himself and Maeline whose dedication over the summer holidays ensure we open our doors fully prepared for the year ahead. Our New Entrance Door, at Madeline’s office, is finally fully operational, with new signage and crest in place beside the door. The crest and moto are to be seen in various locations around the school. “Crainn mhóra ó shíolta beaga”, “ From little seeds grow mighty trees”, encapsulates the vision and ideals of our school.
Time Keeping and Attendance
We are all full of good intentions for the new school year and we hope you will put time - keeping and attendance at the top of your list. The Education Welfare Act obliges schools to report absences of 20 days or more. Please let the school know in writing if your child is absent and why. Doors close at 9.05 in the morning and latecomers will use our new entrance door.
We wish to promote our Healthy Eating Policy and we hope to encourage parents to provide their children with healthy foods, snacks and drinks. Please see our policy on the school website. In order to cut down on rubbish disposal and in order to let you know how much is necessary for your child’s lunch, all children will take home their uneaten lunch and wrappers every day in their lunchboxes for recycling. Your co-operation is appreciated in this area. A number of children in the school are allergic to nuts and we request that parents avoid sending nuts or food containing nuts into the school
Book list & Payments
Thank you to all who have paid Section B of our book list which covers photocopying, art and craft materials, curriculum resources, computer consumables, stationery and book rental. These charges are necessary for the continued successful running of the school and are entirely spent on providing classroom requisites and resources. There are still some expenses outstanding and we would appreciate payment as soon as possible. If the timing of this payment does not suit, please contact the Principal to make alternative arrangements.
Our school calendar is available on our website www.naiscoilide.ie.
We ask that all children keep a small face cloth in their bags which they will use for drying their hands after they have been to the toilet. Please ensure these cloths are washed on a regular basis. Your co-operation in this matter is

To ensure the safety of your child, Allianz Insurance has recommended that we make you aware of the following. The official opening time of the school is 9.00. No responsibility is accepted for pupils arriving before this time. Please do not leave children unattended in the yard before this time as they would be unsupervised. Pupils who arrive at the school before 9 o’clock must be supervised by parents or guardians. At 9 o’clock and again at 1.40 it is very important that parent remain back from the exit doors to ensure pupils can safely enter and leave the school.
