The Minister's Visit
The Minister for Education came to visit the school last Thursday.
Mr. Quinn and his entourage were greeted by Ms. Kingston’s Junior Infants and their journey through the school took them to Ms. Walsh’s Room 7 to see the I-Pads in action, Ms Mc Ilvenna’s Room 3 to witness Ready Steady Go Maths, Ms Mc Cay’s Room 3 to bear witness to the Aistear programme, Ms. Sayers’ and Ms. Keena’s Room 11 and 12 to listen to Irish songs.
Finally the ministerial party reached Room 13 where the minister was grilled by Mr. O Connor’s class. Mr. O Connor gave a performance of which Vincent Browne would be proud. Minister Quinn and his department has provided €485,000 to the Board of management to replace four prefabs with permanent classrooms but in the grueling aftermath of events in Room 13 he may well be having second thoughts.
