~ Welcome to Ms. McGinn's Room 4 ~
Happy Halloween from Room 4!
We did lots of maths based activities and games to celebrate Maths Week in Room 4. We played the dice game 'Roll and build', the number recognition game 'vegetables', the IWB 'Teddy Bear' counting game and we made some super shape people!
We have been learning all about the garden centre this month during our Aistear time. So today we decided to go out to the school garden and plant some Tulip bulbs. Hopefully these bulbs will grow into beautiful flowers next year!
Floating & Sinking
We had a great time during our floating and sinking science lesson. First we looked at all of the items we wanted to test. We chatted about these items and made predictions about what we thought would happen to them in the water. Once our predictions were made we got to get our hands wet and tested each item to see what happened. We were very impressed to discover that all our predictions were correct! The rock and marble sank to the bottom of the containers and the boat, duck and cork floated on top.
Room 4 Fun
We have been super busy in school this week! We have made patterns using spools, links, bears and animals. We are really enjoying our Fine Motor Skills rota each morning too. We have mark making activities, construction with Duplo, pegboards and creating Potato Heads included in the rota this week. We have also used our cutting, sticking and sequencing skills to retell the nursery rhyme 'One, two buckle my shoe'.
Water Garden Fun
Room 4 visited the water garden today. We had fantastic fun playing with the water tables and new chalk boards. We cant wait to visit it again soon!
Brown Bear, Brown Bear
During our first week in school we have read the story 'Brown Bear, Brown Bear' by Bill Martin Jr. We have had so much fun reading about all the different animals that Brown Bear saw and their various colours. The Blue Horse and Purple Cat were very popular! We decided to use our colouring, cutting and sticking skills to make our very own Brown Bears. We think they look great, don't you?
